Traction Additives

Smith’s Resin Sand is an angular micronized polymeric material which can be added to any film forming coating to achieve a slip resistant film.  Due to its composition, Smith’s Resin Sand will not absorb, expand or dissolve in oil, solvent or water-based systems.  Intended for commercial, retail, residential & light warehouse traffic environments.

Smith’s Glass Beads are a round hemispherical glass traction aggregate for use as an additive in and/or broadcast over Smith’s Sealers & Topcoats for slip-resistance in areas with minimal traction improvement requirements subject to frequent dust mopping.  This traction aggregate does not yield a harsh, jagged texture (as compared to other traction additives, such as Smith’s Resin Sand, Aluminum Oxide, Polypropylene bead, etc.) making Smith’s Glass Beads an option for more decorative topcoat applications like Airplane Hangars, Metallic & Luster, interior decorative concrete in retail settings, etc. which only require a mild to moderate traction additive due to the traffic and environment.  Yields the least reduction to gloss vs. other traction aggregates.  Intended for use in commercial, retail & pool decks, healthcare, Veterinary / Kennels, and more.

Low Sheen Additives for Solvent-based Polyurethane Topcoats

Smith’s A/O 325 is a very fine powder low sheen finish additive for use in solvent-based topcoats such as, Smith’s CRU’86, Smith’s MCU-60 or Smith’s Polyaspartic 2000, when applied as the final layer at 450 to 600 sq.ft. per gallon over a prime coat or a previous coating layer.  The additive achieves a significant gloss reduction and yields a slightly textured surface help dull the finish of the topcoat.

*Too fine for use as a traction additive and will not improve wet slip resistance.

Broadcast Media - Sand & Vinyl Chip blends

Smith’s Wedron Sand is a natural color, 40/70 mesh blend, washed 100% quartz broadcast aggregate blend for Smith’s Shop Floor systems as well as aggregate for solid color epoxy cove base when mixed with Smith’s Epoxy GEL-150.

Covia Black Lab epoxy trowel mortar sand blend is a natural color premium aggregate blend which is mixed with 100% solids epoxy to yield the durable, high build Smith’s Epoxy HD-100 3/16 to 1 inch thick trowel-applied /power-troweled floor heavy-duty system.  When mixed with 100% solids epoxy, the mortar may be used to resurface eroded or uneven concrete in heavy traffic, abusive environments in need of a durable, new, quick return-to-service floor.

Smith’s Vinyl Chip are 1/4″ ave. diameter Vinyl Chip blends used as a broadcast medium into either Smith’s Polyaspartic products, Smith’s 100% solids Epoxy products or Smith’s CPR Cementitious Polyurethane Resurfacer products to achieve decorative vinyl chip seamless floor coating systems ideal for retail, commercial, institutional, medical & veterinary, kennels, as well as residential applications.  Numerous color options are available.

Solid Color Packs

Smith’s ISC Industrial Solid Color Packs were developed as a pigment dispersion which allows the contractor to use a single color pack across several solvent-borne resin types, such as Epoxy, Polyurethane and Polyaspartic products.   Smith’s ISC Color Packs reduce the risk of accidentally using the wrong type of pigment in the wrong type of coating.

Smith’s ISC is a premium colorant with a lower viscosity than other resin dispersion colorants and is more compatible than other “universal” type dispersions.

Smith Paint Products set out to develop Smith’s ISC with the following *minimum standard requirements which can occur with traditional pigment dispersions:

  • Work in multiple resin platforms without accelerating or slowing the coating
  • Nil effect on chemical resistance
  • Nil effect on stain resistance
  • Nil effect on sheen/gloss vs. coating without Smith’s ISC added
  • No effect on scratch or gouge resistance
  • No pigment float or color flip when applied as instructed in coating data sheet
  • Able to stir in any settled pigment in the can with a paint stir stick

*When used at published recommended dosage as stated on the ISC package label for each individual coating product as well as the product data sheet for each recommended coating.

Smith’s WSC is solid color dispersion developed for use in Smith’s Epoxy FW38, Smith’s Poly-SEAL, Smith’s Epoxy VCB38, or Smith’s Poly-WB to achieve a U.V. Stable, solid color while reducing inventory by adding colorant to a clear base vs. having a separate factory tinted component for each color which leads to excess remnant left over particle product for contractors to store or waste.  Smith’s WSC contain high quality pigments which are U.V Light Stable and fade resistant.

Smith’s Dry Pigment Packs are powder, integral color packs for use in Smith’s CPR products and Smith’s 4in1 Overlay to achieve a solid color.   These premium quality pigment packs are portioned to all the applicator to mix 1 bag of Smith’s Dry Pigment Packs to 1 unit of Smith’s CPR or Smith’s 4in1.

Mica Pigment - Metallic & Luster

Smith’s Metallic & Luster are a blend of Mica powder pigments which are added to either 100% solids Epoxy or Polyaspartic products to achieve a decorative metallic seamless floor coating systems ideal for commercial, retail, institutional & residential interior applications.  Smith’s Metallic & Luster coating systems offer unique mottling & artisan capabilities to achieve truly one-of-a-kind floor coatings.  Add 1 jar Metallic & Luster color pack per 3 gallon kit of 100% solids Epoxy or 2 jars to 2 gallon kits of  Polyaspartic (or use 4 to 8 oz per mixed gallon)

Ultra Violent Light Absorber for 100% Solids Epoxy products

Smith’s Epoxy U.V. Absorber additive enhances the clarity and extends the service life of the epoxy film by absorbing UVA radiation thus lessening U.V. light degradation (i.e. Yellowing, Chalking, Cracking, etc.).  For use in 100% Solids Epoxy, such as Smith’s Epoxy UCE200, Smith’s Epoxy U100, Smith’s FC125 or Smith’s Epoxy GEL-150.  Use 1 unit per 3 gallons of epoxy (1% by volume of mixed epoxy).
